AMECO is dedicated to improving the communities in which our employees live and work. From food and toy drives to disaster support and service activities, our teams support this mission globally.
Across South America, AMECO’s employees go the extra mile for their communities, especially around the holidays. In Salamanca, Coquimbo, Chile, the AMECO team at a local mine site has held Christmas activities for the village since 1998. Additional activities across Chile and Peru include toy and clothing drives as well as visits to local schools and elderly care homes. In 2013, the employees in AMECO’s Santiago office even built a playground for a local school.
AMECO provides total project support to clients across a broad range of industries in South America, including mining, infrastructure, power, and industrial.
AMECO has the ability to provide a complete solution for both construction projects and ongoing operations, from equipment provision through maintenance, operation, and training. Our expertise ranges from equipment maintenance and operation to fleet management and mining support services. We can provide the right equipment, operators, and expertise to make sure the job is done right.
AMECO’s mining services solutions are available across our footprint in South America. This offering provides clients with a single point of contact and the equipment, operators, support services, and maintenance needed to execute work at the mine site, which enables clients to optimize their resources.
Regardless of industry, our team can manage, maintain and operate equipment and vehicle fleets as well as provide specialty services such as rigging and operator certification. Our process provides a single point of contact, transparent reporting, industry-leading safety programs and best-in-class equipment availability. By integrating our service offering, understanding the full scope of project demands, and leveraging the best people, proven processes, and innovative technology, AMECO can optimize assets and help clients reduce total operating costs.
AMECO began operations in South America in 1994 supporting projects in both Chile and Argentina. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, the AMECO team actively pursued work with the mining industry across Chile. We acquired an independent contract to provide fleet operation and management at Minera Escondida in 1998, and this relationship has grown over the years and continues to present day.
In 2004, to better support clients in the Chilean mining industry, AMECO opened an operations center in La Negra, Antofagasta. The facility supports operations in northern Chile by providing equipment, maintenance, and logistics services. Later in 2006, an office branch was opened in Copiapó to support projects in the region of Atacama.
AMECO expanded to Peru in 2006, where we and a local partner began operating under the name Choice Equipos y Servicios (Choice EyS) to support clients in the mining and infrastructure industries. In 2011, AMECO expanded into Colombia where we provided equipment to a refinery expansion project in Cartagena. Since then, we have expanded our profile to support clients in the aggregate production and pulp and paper markets in the country.
